This organization, by heightening the sensitivity of the congregation to current issues, serves as an advocate voice for change. It promotes social and ethnic awareness focusing on issues such as temperance, health, education, world peace, race relations, and social affairs. Annual activities include a Black History Luncheon, blood drive and Health-O-Rama.
The Commission on Stewardship and Finance shall promote and cultivate Christian stewardship and administer the financial program of the church. This commission is concerned with the financial responsibilities and accountability of the church.
All persons, except members of the clergy, are known as lay members or the laity and are encouraged to join the Lay Organization.
The Lay Organization encourages the laity to support and participate in church programs. Additionally, they stimulate and educate the laity in church history, development and organic laws of African Methodism. Regular and systematic study of the Discipline of the African Methodist Church is conducted by the Lay Organization to promote the spirit of personal evangelism and training in Christian stewardship.

The L.I.F.T. (Lifting in Faith Together) Women’s Resource Center responds to the Detroit Metropolitan area shortage of specialized services geared toward women that are recovering from substance abuse and/or domestic violence. Group and individual counseling services provide the necessary tools to empower them to take control of their lives.
The Center is fully staffed and the Stewards of the Vision (Board of Directors) provide policy oversight.
This is a multifaceted ministry that is responsible for upgrading the communication technology of the church. Responsibilities include producing quality materials that will minister to the needs of God’s people. God’s message is shared through the use of television, radio and other global technology.
We are called to strengthen our faith and sent to continue the ministry of Jesus Christ by service and witness in the world. To accomplish the mission and purpose of the Women’s Missionary Society, we are committed to witness by participating in the ministry beyond the congregation; know the community and partner with agencies to provide needed service; be advocates urging change in systems and structures which exclude and alienate and work for peace and justice in the community; encourage, recruit, affirm, and motivate a membership of intergenerational caring women and provide opportunities for mission education.
Sponsored by the Missionary Society, the Y.P.D. provides youth training programs in all areas of the church life that will lead to full participation in the church’s mission. In addition to offering leadership opportunities, the Y.P.D. provides training in Evangelism, Christian Social Relations, and Education with the intent of increasing knowledge and understanding of the A.M.E.C. history and the Word of God.
This is the church’s chapter of a 4th Episcopal District ministry that gives church members between the ages of 18–40 an opportunity to become catalysts for growth and positive change in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. It is designed to encourage young adults to give their time, talent and treasure to the building and increasing of the Kingdom of God on earth. This group works to meet its goals by helping its members identify their spiritual gifts through tithing and serving on various boards and organizations of the church and training them to become leaders in the A.M.E church locally and on the conference, district, and connectional levels. YAN sponsors a monthly Bible Study and an Annual YAN Day.
This organization has a responsibility to spread information about Oak Grove’s upcoming events and is to engage in reporting on past ones. Members of this ministry give voice to the work of the church’s ministries and organizations, speaking to the immediate community and the city through the use of written publications, radio and other means.
The Senior Dignitaries, ages 55 and older, is an organized group of mature Christians who come together to learn the Word, fellowship and share information relevant to their specific age group. Additional activities include field trips and special interest seminars.
Every Sunday, a prerecorded worship service will be broadcast on AM 1340 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
