The Ministries of Oak Grove

Outreach Ministries

Caring and Sharing Ministry

The members of Caring and Sharing, using donations specifically designated for the ministry, provide for persons who are in need of emergency assistance. During the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, the Caring and Sharing Ministry is also responsible for the distribution of generous food baskets to the sick and shut–in as well as to other persons who are in need.

Come Home For Christmas (CHFC)

Come Home For Christmas is an annual outreach and celebration. Each year members of Oak Grove volunteer to become disciples. Every disciple covenants to meet a specific financial goal to assist in raising funds that underwrite all facets of the celebration.

All donations are used to sponsor a variety of events including a shopping spree for disadvantaged families that have been identified and selected by the E.D.K. Instructional Guild.

On a specified Saturday in December donations are used to transport shelter residents and their children to the church to attend a praise and worship service, dine on a home–cooked meal and receive a bundle of new carefully selected Christmas gifts.

Lighthouse/Evangelism (Win, Teach, Keep)

This outreach ministry fulfills the great commission to go and make disciples of all people, thereby it is a lighthouse for those who have lost their way and need a place of refuge. This ministry is the support system of the church designed to win the lost, teach them what being a Christian means and keep them focused on living a holy life.

The Prison Ministry/Coming to the Light

This ministry’s mission is to be a light to those that are incarcerated and looking for hope while getting through a grave situation. The members of this ministry share the love of Christ and the hope of God with his children who have lost their way.

Transition of Prisoners (T.O.P.)

This ministry is a connection to the prison ministry. It is an invaluable extension to serve as a bridge to those who are seeking to make a new start. Persons who have been released receive counseling, training and encouragement designed to assist them in making a transition back into society.

Christians in Recovery (CIR)

Christians in Recovery addresses substance abuse and dysfunctional concerns. Most attendees coming to these meetings will have had some involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous Programs. The Ministry is formatted to conduct a scripturally based 12 Step Bible Studies that are similar in structure, and supplemental to AA and NA.

V.I.P. Mentoring

Volunteers in Prevention (VIP) provide mentors for children who have a parent(s) who have been incarcerated. Mentors are matched with a child whom they commit to spending time with each month.
